Abstract

El presente trabajo examina de forma exhaustiva el concepto de inversión de impacto, entendida como la estrategia de inversión que busca, de manera intencionada, generar beneficios sociales y ambientales medibles junto a retornos financieros. El estudio parte de una definición clara y actualizada de este enfoque, explorando sus raíces históricas y diferenciándolo de otros conceptos relacionados, como ESG, la inversión socialmente responsable, la sostenibilidad empresarial y la venture philanthropy. Se profundiza en el concepto de blended value, que integra de forma holística el valor económico, social y ambiental, y se analiza cómo herramientas como IRIS+ permiten medir y gestionar este impacto. Además, se presenta un panorama actual del mercado de la inversión de impacto, destacando la distribución del capital, las localizaciones y sectores prioritarios, y se ilustra con el caso práctico de la gestora Impact Bridge. El objetivo del trabajo es ofrecer una base sólida y accesible que permita a cualquier lector comprender los fundamentos, la metodología y las implicaciones de la inversión de impacto, evitando la sobrecarga de terminología técnica.

This study provides a comprehensive examination of impact investing as an approach that intentionally generates measurable social and environmental benefits alongside financial returns. The work begins with a clear and updated definition of the concept, exploring its historical roots and distinguishing it from related approaches such as ESG, socially responsible investing, corporate sustainability, and venture philanthropy. It further delves into the concept of blended value, which holistically integrates economic, social, and environmental value, and analyzes how tools like IRIS+ enable the measurement and management of impact. Moreover, the current market panorama is presented by highlighting capital distribution, key regions, and priority sectors, illustrated by a practical case study of the asset manager Impact Bridge. The main objective of this work is to provide a solid and accessible foundation that allows any reader to understand the principles, methodology, and implications of impact investing, without overwhelming them with excessive technical jargon.
