INFLUENCIA DE LA PSICOTERAPIA EN LA SINTOMATOLOGÍA DE TCA Y EL PERFECCIONISMO ORIENTADO A LA APARIENCIA FÍSICA EN MODELOS PROFESIONALES

Abstract

El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar la posible relación entre haber realizado un proceso terapéutico, la sintomatología de los trastornos de la conducta alimentaria (TCA) y el perfeccionismo orientado a la apariencia física en modelos profesionales. Asimismo, se exploró la influencia de determinados factores terapéuticos y de la orientación psicológica del tratamiento, así como la asociación entre ambas dimensiones clínicas. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 61 mujeres que ejercen como modelos profesionales (M = 24 años), de las cuales 33 habían participado en un proceso terapéutico y 28 no. Los resultados no mostraron diferencias significativas en la sintomatología de TCA entre los grupos, sin embargo, sí que se observaron diferencias significativas en una de las subescalas del perfeccionismo orientado a la apariencia física. Por otro lado, los factores terapéuticos percibidos como elementos clave del cambio no mostraron diferencias significativas, al igual que la corriente psicológica empleada. Por último, se encontró una correlación positiva entre la sintomatología de TCA y el perfeccionismo corporal, lo que refuerza la idea de que ambos constructos están estrechamente vinculados.

The objective of this study was to examine the potential relationship between having undergone a therapeutic process, the symptomatology of eating disorders (ED), and appearance-oriented perfectionism in professional models. Furthermore, the influence of specific therapeutic factors and the psychological orientation of the treatment was explored, as well as the association between these two clinical dimensions. The sample consisted of 61 female professional models (M = 24 years), of whom 33 had participated in a therapeutic process and 28 had not. The findings revealed no significant differences in ED symptomatology between the two groups; however, significant differences were observed in one of the subscales of appearance-oriented perfectionism. Additionally, no significant differences were found in the perceived therapeutic factors identified as key to change, nor in the psychological orientation of the treatment. Finally, a positive correlation was found between ED symptomatology and appearance-related perfectionism, supporting the notion that both constructs are closely interrelated.
