PERSPECTIVAS FAMILIARES SOBRE EL ACOGIMIENTO DE URGENCIA EN LA COMUNIDAD DE MADRID

Abstract

El acogimiento familiar de urgencia es una medida clave del sistema de protección infantil, dirigida a ofrecer un entorno afectivo inmediato y seguro a menores en situación de riesgo. Esta investigación cualitativa, basada en entrevistas en profundidad a dieciocho familias acogedoras de la Comunidad de Madrid, tiene como objetivo comprender cómo viven estas familias el proceso de acogida, qué motivaciones les impulsan y qué necesidades identifican en los menores y en sí mismas. Los resultados muestran que las familias desarrollan un fuerte vínculo afectivo desde el inicio, adaptan sus rutinas y espacios, y construyen un entorno estable que favorece el desarrollo emocional del menor. La despedida, aunque dolorosa, se afronta como parte del compromiso asumido, a través de estrategias de duelo elaboradas. Las familias valoran la experiencia como altamente positiva, tanto por el impacto en los niños como por el enriquecimiento personal y familiar. Sin embargo, expresan la necesidad de un mayor apoyo institucional y una mejor visibilidad del programa. Este estudio visibiliza el papel fundamental de las familias acogedoras como agentes activos en la protección de la infancia.

Emergency foster care is a key child protection measure aimed at providing a safe and nurturing environment for children at risk. This qualitative study, based on in-depth interviews with eighteen foster families in the Community of Madrid, examines how these families experience the process, what motivates them to foster, and what needs they identify in both the children and themselves. Findings reveal that families quickly form strong emotional bonds, restructure their routines and home life, and create stable conditions that support the child’s emotional development. Although parting is painful, it is embraced as part of the caregiving commitment, and families develop personal strategies to process grief. They report the experience as deeply rewarding, both for the positive changes observed in the children and for the emotional and relational growth within the family. Nonetheless, they call for greater institutional support and broader public awareness of the program. The study highlights the essential role of foster families as active agents in child protection.
