Abstract

El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar el impacto que las nuevas condiciones de trabajo impuestas por la pandemia de COVID-19 tuvieron sobre los honorarios de los intérpretes de conferencia. Este estudio se centra en la interpretación simultánea remota (ISR) realizada mediante plataformas de videoconferencia, un formato en el que los intérpretes trabajan separados tanto de sus colegas como de los participantes que utilizan el servicio. La autora busca investigar los efectos del confinamiento y las restricciones de movilidad durante la pandemia COVID-19 en los honorarios y condiciones laborales de los intérpretes de conferencia, tomando como punto de partida su experiencia en los mercados brasileño y chileno.

The aim of this paper is to analyze the impact that the new working conditions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic had on the fees of conference interpreters. This study focuses on remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI) carried out through videoconferencing platforms, a format in which interpreters work separately from both their colleagues and the participants using the service. The author seeks to investigate the effects of lockdowns and mobility restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic on the fees and working conditions of conference interpreters, using her experience in the Brazilian and Chilean markets as a starting point.
