Por ello, este trabajo analiza su desarrollo en el país y los principales factores que han favorecido su crecimiento. El objetivo principal del trabajo es explicar los factores estratégicos, económicos, sociales e institucionales que han impulsado la expansión de los search funds dentro del ecosistema empresarial y de inversión español. Asimismo, se estudia el atractivo del modelo para searchers, inversores y empresarios, se describe la situación actual del mercado español y se ilustra su aplicación práctica mediante el caso de Ayete Partners. La metodología empleada es principalmente cualitativa, descriptiva y analítica, con un enfoque inductivo. La investigación se apoya fundamentalmente en fuentes secundarias, entre ellas literatura académica, informes especializados y prensa económica, complementadas con información primaria en el estudio de caso. Los resultados muestran que España presenta condiciones favorables para el desarrollo de los search funds. En particular, destacan la estructura del tejido empresarial español, caracterizada por el predominio de pymes y empresas familiares, el creciente problema del relevo generacional y el papel de instituciones como IESE en la difusión y legitimación del modelo. En conjunto, el estudio concluye que el ecosistema español de search funds sigue siendo relativamente joven, pero muestra una consolidación creciente y un potencial de expansión en los próximos años. During the last few years, the search fund model has been gaining presence in Spain, although its study within the Spanish context remains limited. Accordingly, this study analyses its development in the country and the main factors that have contributed to its growth. The main objective of this study is to explain the strategic, economic, social and institutional factors that have driven the expansion of search funds within the Spanish business and investment ecosystem. It also examines the attractiveness of the model for searchers, investors and business owners, describes the current situation of the Spanish market, and illustrates its practical application through the case of Ayete Partners. The methodology employed is mainly qualitative, descriptive and analytical, following an inductive approach. The research is based primarily on secondary sources, including academic literature, specialised reports and the financial press, complemented by primary information in the case study. The results show that Spain presents favourable conditions for the development of search funds. In particular, the most relevant factors are the structure of the Spanish business fabric, characterised by the predominance of SMEs and family-owned firms, the growing problem of generational succession, and the role of institutions such as IESE in the dissemination and legitimisation of the model.
