<dim:field element="description" qualifier="abstract" language="es-ES" mdschema="dc">Este Trabajo de Fin de Grado analiza la transformación estratégica de los Family Offices, estructuras creadas históricamente para preservar el patrimonio familiar, hacia modelos orientados también a la creación de valor y al desarrollo de la familia propietaria. El estudio parte de un contexto marcado por tres factores principales: la mayor transferencia intergeneracional de riqueza de la historia, la creciente complejidad de los mercados financieros y el cambio cultural impulsado por las nuevas generaciones. A partir de una revisión de literatura académica y de informes institucionales internacionales, el trabajo propone un modelo conceptual propio que explica esta transición mediante cinco etapas: preservación tradicional, acumulación de tensiones estructurales, relevo generacional como detonante, aparición de riesgos y construcción de una transición sostenible.

La investigación identifica cuatro riesgos principales asociados al cambio estratégico: el aumento de la complejidad organizativa, la desalineación intergeneracional, los fallos de gobernanza y la pérdida de identidad familiar. Frente a ello, se plantea que una transición sostenible depende de tres elementos clave: una gobernanza adaptativa, un propósito familiar explícito y una planificación adecuada del relevo generacional. El trabajo sostiene que la creación de valor no sustituye a la preservación patrimonial, sino que se construye sobre ella.

El marco teórico se contrasta posteriormente con casos reales españoles —Pontegadea, Inmo Alameda y Cartival— y con conglomerados familiares latinoamericanos como Breca y Romero. El análisis concluye que, especialmente en España, la transformación de las carteras de inversión avanza más rápido que la evolución de las estructuras de gobernanza, generando una transición todavía incompleta en muchos Family Offices.</dim:field>
<dim:field element="description" qualifier="abstract" language="en-GB" mdschema="dc">This "End of career project" analyzes the strategic evolution of Family Offices, institutions historically focused on preserving family wealth, toward models increasingly oriented to value creation and the development of the owning family itself. The study is framed within three major forces shaping the sector today: the largest intergenerational wealth transfer in history, the growing complexity of financial markets, and the cultural shift driven by younger generations. Drawing on academic literature and leading institutional reports, the dissertation develops an original conceptual framework explaining this transformation through five stages: traditional wealth preservation, accumulation of structural tensions, generational succession as a catalyst, emergence of transition risks, and the construction of a sustainable transition model.

The research identifies four major risks associated with this strategic shift: increasing organizational complexity, intergenerational misalignment, governance failures, and the potential loss of family identity. To address these challenges, the dissertation argues that a sustainable transition depends on three moderating conditions: adaptive governance, a clearly defined family purpose, and well-planned succession processes. The central argument is that value creation does not replace wealth preservation but rather builds upon it.

The theoretical framework is then contrasted with real-world case studies, including major Spanish Family Offices such as Pontegadea, Inmo Alameda, and Cartival, as well as Latin American family conglomerates like Breca and Romero. The findings reveal that, particularly in Spain, the transformation of investment portfolios is progressing faster than the evolution of governance structures, resulting in a transition process that remains incomplete in many Family Offices.</dim:field>
