La Comedia famosa americana Lucinda y Belardo en el contexto de la literatura de cautivos

Abstract

La Comedia famosa americana Lucinda y Belardo, de autor anónimo, se sus- tenta sobre un argumento que aparece también desarrollado en un romance de amplia difusión editorial y se enmarca en una tipología de profusa fortuna en diversos géneros como es la literatura de cautivos. A través de su análisis se puede constatar, no solo la ficcionalización de una realidad histórica, como fue el problemático dominio de los turcos en el Mediterráneo, sino también el empleo de una serie de tópicos y motivos —sistematizados, por ejemplo, en los índices de Thompson— que gozaron de un amplio desarrollo literario. Como se examinará en el presente estudio, se trata de tópicos que sirvieron para fortalecer la recepción de la obra dramática al ser esperados y reconocidos por el espectador.

The Comedia famosa americana Lucinda y Belardo by an anonymous author, is based on a plot that also appears developed in a widely published metrical romance and is framed in a typology of profuse fortune in various genres such as Captive Literature. Through its analysis, it is possible to verify not only the fictionalization of a historical reality, such as the problematic domination of the Turks in the Mediterranean, but also the use of a series of topics and motifs —systematized, for example, in the Thompson’s indexes— which enjoyed extensive literary development. As will be examined in this study, these are topics that served to strengthen the reception of the dramatic work by being expected and recognized by the spectator.
