El filósofo español realiza una revisión histórica y filosófica del concepto de “persona” que le permita, por un lado, enriquecer este concepto clave y, por otro lado, hacer frente a los dilemas actuales de la filosofía y, en especial, de la bioética. El personalismo integral –anteriormente conocido como personalismo ontológico moderno (POM)– defiende la necesidad de pensar al ser humano desde categorías per- sonales exclusivas a fin de pensar al ser humano desde la persona. Así, Bur- gos, cuya filosofía parte del pensamiento personalista y, en especial, del de Karol Wojtyła, realiza lo que se ha denominado “el giro personalista”: pensar el ser humano desde la persona. En este sentido, propone superar el “lastre griego”, que consiste en el oscurecimiento de lo específicamente humano debido al estudio del ser humano como un tipo especial de objeto. El filósofo español rechaza ofrecer una noción descriptiva de la persona y, en este sentido, critica las definiciones bioéticas actualistas de la persona basadas en la posesión de rasgos como la racionalidad o subsistencia. Bur- gos defiende que el ser humano no es un ser que deviene en persona por la posesión de atributos (propuesta actualista de la persona); más bien, el ser humano es siempre persona. Burgos desarrolla una aproximación a la no- ción de persona que revele su dignidad intrínseca. This article is about the study of the concept of “person” in the integral personalism of Juan Manuel Burgos. The Spanish philosopher carries out a historical and philosophical review of the concept of “person” that allows him, on the one hand, to enrich this key concept and, on the other hand, to confront the current dilemmas of philosophy and, especially, bioethics. Integral personalism – previously known as modern ontological personalism (POM) – defends the need to think about the human being from exclusive personal categories in order to think about the human being from the person. Thus, Burgos, whose philosophy is based on personalist thought and, especially, that of Karol Wojtyła, car- ries out what has been called “the personalist turn”: thinking about the human being from the person. In this sense, it proposes to overcome the “Greek burden”, which consists of the obscuration of what is specifically human due to the study of the human being as a special type of object. The Spanish philosopher refuses to offer a descriptive notion of the person and, in this sense, criticizes actualist bioethical definitions of the person based on the possession of traits such as rationality or subsisten- ce. Burgos defends that the human being is not a being that becomes a person through the possession of attributes (actualist proposal of the person); rather, the human being is always a person.
