Maths Team Contest: refinamiento y ampliación de metodologías docentes

Abstract

A lo largo del curso 2021-22, el proyecto “MTC: Maths Team Contest” se llevó a cabo con éxito en un grupo de 48 alumnos del primer curso del Grado en Ingeniería Matemática e Inteligencia Artificial. Dicho proyecto, consistente en la organización de un concurso matemático por equipos transversal en las asignaturas de Álgebra y Geometría y Análisis Matemático y Cálculo Vectorial, permitió exponer a los alumnos a problemas matemáticos más profundos e interdisciplinares, propiciando el desarrollo de su pensamiento abstracto y de aptitudes como la capacidad de trabajo en equipo, la capacidad de autoorganización y gestión del tiempo o las habilidades comunicativas.Extender este tipo de prácticas de un grupo reducido a un contexto más general supone un reto y en esta práctica se exponen los cambios metodológicos y tecnológicos que se han implantado para hacer escalable el modelo de evaluación colaborativa en codocencia del MTC y poder aplicarlo en el curso 2022-23, donde el número de grupos, alumnos y profesores de estas asignaturas se duplicó.Esto ha incluido el desarrollo de una infraestructura digital distribuida de gestión integral que permite a los profesores coordinar la actividad y corregir los problemas entregados en tiempo real desde tabletas.

Throughout the 2021-22 academic year, the project “MTC: Maths Team Contest” was successfully carried out with a group of 48 students of the first year of the Degree in Mathematical Engineering and Artificial Intelligence. This project, consisting of the organization of a mathematical contest by transversal teams in the subjects of Algebra and Geometry and Mathematical Analysis and Vector Calculus, allowed the students to be exposed to deeper and interdisciplinary mathematical problems, promoting the development of their abstract thinking and skills such as teamwork, self-organization and time management and communication skills.Extending this type of practice from a small group to a more general context is a challenge and in this practice we present the methodological and technological changes that have been implemented to make the collaborative evaluation model in co-teaching of the MTC scalable and to be able to apply it in the 2022-23 course, where the number of groups, students and teachers of these subjects doubled.This has included the development of a distributed digital infrastructure for comprehensive management that allows teachers to coordinate activity and correct problems delivered in real time from tablets.
