Sanitarios en la tensión

Abstract

Para un número elevado de sanitarios sus profesiones son mucho más que un oficio o un trabajo: se convierten en una verdadera vocación. Así, las viven como enviados a una misión que los envuelve completamente, por la belleza que reflejan, el bien que persiguen y la verdad que revelan. Sin embargo, esto implica que a menudo tienen que bandearse en medio de la tensión. En las páginas que siguen los autores desenmascaran tres tensiones actuales por las que se encuentran sacudidos los profesionales de la salud: la tensión entre la técnica y el sentido, entre el bienestar y el bienhacer, entre la fortaleza y la debilidad. Y plantean una llamada a resistir en medio de ellas para que puedan convertirse en polaridades evangélicas fecundas de las que nazca la fe, la esperanza y el amor.

For a great number of health-care professionals, their professions are much more than a job, they are a true vocation. As such, they live them as if they were sent on a mission that envelops them completely for the beauty that they reflect, the good that they pursue and the truth that they reveal. However, this implies that at times, they have to move from one extreme to the other looking for equilibrium in the midst of the tension. In the following pages authors expose three present tensions that concern health professionals: the tension between technique and meaning, between well-being and good-doing, and between strength and weakness. They also raise a call to remain vigilant in the middle of these tensions so that they can become fruitful evangelical polarities from which faith, hope and love are born.
