Inclusión de ejercicio terapéutico con realidad virtual en tratamiento de fisioterapia en niños con trastorno del espectro autista

Abstract

Antecedentes: El trastorno del espectro autista es una alteración del desarrollo neurológico que suele diagnosticarse durante los primeros años de vida. Este trastorno es una afectación que acompaña a las personas que lo padecen para siempre. Las personas con autismo tienen unas características muy significativas que les diferencian, que son conductas estereotipadas, intereses reducidos y dificultad para establecer relaciones interpersonales y entorpecimiento para la comunicación. Además, aunque no se incluya dentro de las características diagnósticas, los niños con autismo presentan déficits motores, que les dificultan la realización de sus actividades del día a día. Objetivo: Analizar la incorporación en el tratamiento habitual de un plan de ejercicio terapéutico mediante realidad virtual frente al tratamiento habitual de fisioterapia en niños con trastorno del espectro autista. Metodología: Estudio analítico, experimental, longitudinal y prospectivo; con evaluador analista y fisioterapeutas de tratamiento habitual ciegos. Se llevará a cabo con 3680 sujetos diagnosticados con trastorno del espectro autista (TEA) entre 5 y 12 años por medio de un muestreo dirigido por conveniencia. Se dividirá la muestra en dos grupos de intervención de forma aleatoria. El grupo control recibirá el tratamiento habitual de fisioterapia y el grupo experimental recibirá el tratamiento habitual de fisioterapia más ejercicio terapéutico mediante realidad virtual (RV). El estudio durará 12 semanas y se realizarán las mediciones una semana anterior (medición pre) y posterior (medición post). Las variables que se estudiarán serán el desarrollo motor y la calidad de vida. Para analizar los datos de las mediciones se utilizará el programa IBM SPSS Statistics® v 28.0.

Background: Autism spectrum disorder is a neurological developmental disorder that is usually diagnosed during the first years of life. This disorder is a condition that accompanies people who suffer from it forever. People with autism have very significant characteristics that differentiate them which are stereotyped behaviors, reduced interests and difficulty establishing interpersonal relationships and difficulty in communication. Furthermore, although it is not included in the diagnostic characteristics, children with autism have motor deficits, which make it difficult for them to carry out their daily activities. Objective: To analyze the incorporation into the usual treatment of a therapeutic exercise plan using virtual reality compared to the usual physiotherapy treatment in children with autism spectrum disorder. Methods: Analytical, experimental, longitudinal and prospective study; with analyst evaluator and usual treatment physiotherapists blind. It will be carried out with 3680 subjects diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder between 5 and 12 years old through convenience sampling. The sample will be divided into two intervention groups randomly. The control group will receive the usual physiotherapy treatment and the experimental group will receive the usual physiotherapy treatment plus therapeutic exercise using virtual reality. The study will last 12 weeks and measurements will be carried out one week before (pre measurement) and after (post measurement). The variables that will be studied will be motor development and quality of life. To analyze the measurement data, the IBM SPSS Statistics® v 28.0 program will be used.
