Recepciones y resonancias de Deus caritas est en Cáritas
Abstract
Este artículo analiza la recepción y resonancia de la encíclica Deus caritas est en Cáritas Española y Fundación FOESSA, profundizando en cómo la encíclica ha impactado la acción socio-caritativa de la Iglesia en España durante los últimos veinte años.
Los autores revisan el contexto social y político, especialmente las tensiones EstadoIglesia y los desafíos de crecimiento económico desigual, destacando el papel de Cáritas como testimonio público y comunitario del Amor de Dios ante la pobreza y la
exclusión. El trabajo explora la diakonia como dimensión constitutiva de la Iglesia, la
importancia de organizar el amor y de buscar la justicia, así como el desafío de conjugar la identidad cristiana con la colaboración en red y la atención cordial alejada
del asistencialismo. Finalmente, se subrayan las tensiones entre justicia y caridad, institución y Espíritu, evangelización explícita e implícita, defendiendo el discernimiento
evangélico y la renovación permanente del servicio de la caridad. This article analyzes the reception and resonance of the encyclical Deus Caritas
est within Cáritas Spain and the FOESSA Foundation, exploring how the encyclical
has impacted the Church’s socio-charitable work in Spain over the past twenty years. The authors review the social and political context, particularly the tensions between Church and State and the challenges of unequal economic growth,
highlighting Cáritas’s role as a public and communal witness to God’s love in the
face of poverty and exclusion. The work explores diakonia as a constitutive dimension of the Church, the importance of organizing love and seeking justice, as
well as the challenge of reconciling Christian identity with collaborative networks
and compassionate care that avoids mere paternalism. Finally, the tensions between justice and charity, institution and Spirit, and explicit and implicit evangelization are underscored, advocating for evangelical discernment and the ongoing
renewal of charitable service.
