Notas sobre la especificidad de lo político

Abstract

El artículo examina la especificidad conceptual de lo político y su distinción frente a otras esferas como la economía, la sociedad, la cultura, la estética, la ética y la religión. El autor critica las delimitaciones puramente negativas y se distancia de la propuesta de Carl Schmitt, quien situaba la esencia de lo político en la distinción amigo–enemigo. Frente a ello, plantea que lo político debe entenderse como la gestión del poder común y como el conjunto de decisiones que afectan a la comunidad y que requieren una orientación voluntaria entre diversas opciones posibles. El texto argumenta que lo político no puede diluirse en otras categorías sin perder capacidad explicativa y que su especificidad reside en la determinación de cómo se gobierna lo común.

The article explores the conceptual specificity of the political and its distinction from other realms such as economics, society, culture, aesthetics, ethics and religion. The author criticizes purely negative definitions and distances himself from Carl Schmitt’s proposal that locates the essence of the political in the friend–enemy distinction. Instead, he argues that the political must be understood as the management of common power and as the set of decisions that affect the community and require voluntary orientation among different possible courses of action. The text maintains that the political cannot be reduced to other spheres without losing explanatory force, and that its specificity lies in determining how collective power is channelled and how the common sphere is governed.
