El libro investiga la filosofía primera como la mayor radicalidad del saber y la vida, preguntando por qué y cómo es posible filosofar. Explora la inseparabilidad entre filosofar y hallar sentido a la existencia, asumiendo el pasado, no desesperando del futuro y abriéndose al otro. El amor, según San Agustín, juzga entre afirmar la propia potencia o abrirse humildemente a lo otro.

The book examines first philosophy as the utmost radicality of knowledge and life, questioning why and how philosophizing is possible. It explores the inseparability of philosophizing and finding meaning in existence, embracing the past, not despairing of the future, and opening to others. Love, as taught by St. Augustine, discerns between affirming one's own power or humbly opening to what is other than oneself.
