Purgatorio contemporáneo: tres ejemplos de estadios intermedios en la ficción.

Abstract

Esta contribución investiga la elaboración del Purgatorio contemporáneo. En primer lugar, presentaremos la ficción como el género casi único para hablar de esta situación intermedia, de carácter secularizado y areligioso, como Mundo Posible. Desde esta perspectiva, analizaremos tres ejemplos. La película Ghost, más allá del amor, trata de la comunicación entre los vivos y los ya fallecidos y la ayuda que prestan los primeros a quien vive en ese estado intermedio, de paso, de purificación, por alguna cuestión pendiente aún no resuelta. No solo la comunión entre unos y otros caracteriza este Purgatorio contemporáneo. También, el modo de vida todavía en vida y una vez que se pasa a otro mundo, a otra vida. Este tránsito de situaciones es el argumento principal del cuarto capítulo de la tercera temporada de Black Mirror, “San Junípero”. Finalmente, Lucifer y sus seis temporadas muestran la evolución de la conciencia y de la identidad del Señor del Infierno, que llega a Los Ángeles para descubrir quién es, convirtiéndose el mundo de aquí en su propio Purgatorio por el deseo de otro a que se recupere.

This contribution investigates the making of contemporary Purgatory. In the first place, we will present fiction as the almost unique genre to talk about this intermediate situation, of a secularized and religious character, as Possible World. From this perspective, we will analyze three examples. The film Ghost, beyond love, deals with communication between the living and the already deceased and the help that the former provide to those who live in that intermediate state, of passage, of purification, due to some pending question not yet resolved. Not only the communion between one and the other characterizes this contemporary Purgatory. Also, the way of life still in life and once it is passed to another world, to another life. This transit of situations is the main argument of the fourth chapter of the third season of Black Mirror, “San Junipero”. Finally, Lucifer and his six seasons show the evolution of the consciousness and identity of the Lord of Hell, who arrives in Los Angeles to discover who he is, turning the world here into its own Purgatory by the desire of another to recover.
