Abstract

Este libro estudia a las beguinas medievales como mujeres libres, maestras y místicas que desarrollaron una experiencia de Dios basada en la contemplación, el estudio, el trabajo y el servicio a los demás. La obra se apoya en fuentes originales, entre ellas la Regla de los auténticos amantes, sermones, poemas y textos críticos, y profundiza en figuras como Matilde de Magdeburgo. También analiza la creatividad espiritual de estas mujeres, su concepción del amor divino y la relación que mantuvieron con la Orden de Predicadores.

This book examines the beguines of the Middle Ages as free women, teachers, and mystics whose experience of God was shaped by contemplation, study, work, and service to others. Drawing on original sources—including The Rule of the True Lovers, sermons, poems, and critical texts—the author explores key figures such as Mechthild of Magdeburg. The volume also analyzes the spiritual creativity of these women, their understanding of divine love, and their relationship with the Dominican Order.
