En el artículo se proponen tres criterios teológicos a la luz de los cuales se formulan y evalúan cinco aporías que actualmente impiden comprender la intuición central que subyace a la idea de la purificación después de la muerte. El autor propone otras cinco reflexiones de carácter sistemático, cuyo objetivo es disipar esas cinco aporías y ofrecer una comprensión renovada y plenamente significativa del contenido esencial de la purificación del ser humano ante el amor infinito de Dios, así como de todas las demás cuestiones teológicas directamente relacionadas con ello, especialmente todo lo referente a la relación entre el tiempo ordinario de la historia y la eternidad de Dios. The traditional concept of purgatory requires proper updating. The article proposes three theological criteria in light of which five aporias are formulated and evaluated; these currently prevent an understanding of the central intuition underlying the idea of postmortem purification. The author offers five additional systematic reflections aimed at resolving these five aporias and providing a renewed and meaningful understanding of the essential content of the purification of the human being in the face of God’s infinite love, as well as of all other theological issues directly related to it, especially everything concerning the relationship between the ordinary time of history and God’s eternity.
