<dim:field element="description" qualifier="abstract" language="es-ES" mdschema="dc">Este artículo describe la tecnología PRIME para comunicaciones por línea eléctrica orientada a aplicaciones de telegestión. Se analizan sus características técnicas a nivel físico y de acceso al medio, así como su capacidad para soportar redes interoperables con múltiples fabricantes. Se presentan los resultados de pruebas de interoperabilidad y ensayos en campo realizados en distintos escenarios en Europa. Además, se describe el proceso de configuración automática de redes PRIME, basado en nodos base, nodos de servicio y nodos repetidores, que permite la creación de redes escalables sin intervención manual. Los resultados muestran un rendimiento adecuado en términos de latencia, tasa de retransmisión y fiabilidad, confirmando la viabilidad de PRIME como solución estandarizada para redes inteligentes.</dim:field>
<dim:field element="description" qualifier="abstract" language="en-GB" mdschema="dc">PRIME (Powerline Intelligent Metering Evolution) is a power line communication technology designed for smart metering applications. This paper reviews the PRIME Alliance and describes the technical features of its PHY and MAC layers. It presents interoperability and certification tests defined to ensure openness and multi-vendor compatibility. Results from field trials in different European locations are analyzed, including performance metrics such as latency, retransmissions, and throughput. The study also explains the automatic network configuration process, where service nodes dynamically act as repeaters to extend coverage. The results demonstrate that PRIME provides reliable and scalable communication for smart metering systems, supporting interoperability and future smart grid requirements.</dim:field>
