Abstract

Este capítulo estudia el decreto conciliar Presbyterorum ordinis dentro del conjunto doctrinal del Vaticano II y lo sitúa en relación con Lumen gentium y Christus Dominus. Tras ofrecer el texto del decreto, desarrolla una introducción histórico-teológica sobre la comprensión del sacerdocio antes del concilio y reconstruye la historia de redacción del documento, desde los primeros esquemas hasta la versión final aprobada en 1965. El comentario analiza la misión de los presbíteros en la Iglesia, sus funciones ministeriales, sus relaciones eclesiales, la distribución del clero y las vocaciones, así como la vida espiritual y los medios propios de santificación. El capítulo concluye con una reflexión pastoral sobre la recepción contemporánea del decreto en un contexto marcado por cambios culturales, crisis eclesial y transformación antropológica.

This chapter examines the conciliar decree Presbyterorum ordinis within the doctrinal framework of Vatican II and places it in close relation to Lumen gentium and Christus Dominus. After presenting the text of the decree, it offers a historical and theological introduction to the understanding of priesthood before the council and reconstructs the drafting history of the document from the earliest schemas to the final version approved in 1965. The commentary studies the mission of priests in the Church, their ministerial functions, their ecclesial relationships, the distribution of clergy and priestly vocations, as well as priestly life, spirituality, and means of sanctification. The chapter ends with a pastoral reflection on the contemporary reception of the decree in a context shaped by cultural change, ecclesial crisis, and anthropological transformation.
