<dim:field element="description" qualifier="abstract" language="es_ES" mdschema="dc">The primary objective of this study is to investigate how women experience the dynamics of
the patriarchy within their daily lives and how these dynamics impact their mental health.
To achieve this, we will use a qualitative methodology based on Grounded Theory, which
gathers women's testimonies via interviews and focus groups, revealing how these
structures influence their everyday experiences.
The study highlights the excessive medicalization of women's emotional struggles, often
linked to patriarchal stereotypes, rather than being addressed through their social causes.
It examines issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder, childhood abuse, and chronic
fatigue—conditions that disproportionately affect women and require a gender-sensitive
approach that considers their broader context.
Research points to the urgent need to increase attention on women’s mental health by
promoting more tailored healthcare initiatives. This implies developing preventive and
educational strategies that acknowledge the structural oppression of the patriarchy and
aim to build an innovative health model: inclusive and free from bias.
Our work emphasizes the urgency of making this issue visible through women’s own
narratives, in order to improve the quality of life of half the world’s population.</dim:field>
