Using the passage of the Emmaus disciples (Luke 24,13-35) as a starting point,
the article firstly attempts to establish the basis for the hope that Jesus had and
that which he inspired in those around him by referring to the Gospel according
to Luke. Upon analyzing the crisis experienced by the followers of Jesus due to
his condemnation and death on the cross, the article examines, with the aid of
The Book of Acts, how they wrote about this impact upon discovering that Jesus
had been resurrected and how they were aided by the Holy Scripture. By
rekindling hope and invoking faith in Jesus, a community was born that portrayed the performative nature of the Christian message and the focus on Jesus
Christ as the object and guarantor of their faith and hope
