La persecución de los creyentes en la Escritura

Abstract

El pueblo de Israel sufrió grandes crisis en su historia que le ayudaron, sin embargo, a conocer a Dios como liberador y salvador, como el único Dios creador de todo. También Jesús encontró oposición desde el inicio de su vida, y al final tuvo una muerte violenta. Anticipó que sus seguidores serían perseguidos, y muchos de la primera hora, como Pedro y Pablo, padecieron la violencia y el martirio. Aprendieron la perseverancia y a interpretar lo que les ocurría a la luz de la muerte y resurrección de Cristo. Gracias al don de su Espíritu descubrieron una nueva forma de comunión con él en el sufrimiento y se abrieron a la esperanza de la gloria futura.

The people of Israel suffered great crises throughout their history that nonetheless helped them to understand God as a liberator and savior, as the only God and creator of all things. Jesus also encountered strong opposition from the beginning of his life and in the end suffered a violent death. He foresaw that his followers would be persecuted and many early Christians, such as Peter and Paul, suffered violence and died as martyrs. They learned the virtue of perseverance and how to interpret what was happening to them in light of the death and resurrection of Christ. Thanks to the gift of His Spirit, they discovered a new way of communion with Him through suffering and opened their hearts to the hope of future glory.
