Grid-Forming (GFM) converters are essential for integrating renewable generation into low-inertia power systems due to their voltage and frequency control. However, standard control schemes often suffer from slow active-power tracking due to their inherent inertia emulation. Moreover, the energy availability from the Primary Energy Source (PES) is often overlooked. This paper proposes a robust control algorithm for GFM converters that accelerates active power reference tracking in the event of PES limitation. The proposed method significantly enhances transient response speed without compromising AC voltage stability or reactive power contribution. Extensive nonlinear simulations demonstrate the robustness of the algorithm under varying grid stiffness conditions, maintaining good performance across different Short Circuit Ratio (SCR) scenarios. The results confirm that the proposed source-aware strategy effectively decouples active power dynamics from voltage control, ensuring fast and stable operation for modern grid-connected converters.
