Rodríguez Fernández, María Isabel Delgado Iglesias, Rocío Universidad Pontificia Comillas, Facultad de Ciencias Humanas y Sociales 2015-06-19T10:32:00Z 2015-06-19T10:32:00Z 2015 http://hdl.handle.net/11531/1126 Máster Universitario en Psicologia General Sanitaria El objetivo del presente estudio es evaluar en dos grupos de mujeres mastectomizadas (N=30) (etapa de adultez temprana (25-45 años) y adultez intermedia (45-65 años)), las posibles diferencias asociadas a la edad sobre su percepción de la imagen corporal, así como los estilos de afrontamiento activos y pasivos que predominan en cada edad, al enfrentarse a las repercusiones físicas de los tratamientos del cáncer de mama. Además se estudió la posible relación entre estrategias de afrontamiento e imagen corporal, y otras variables estudiadas en la investigación (reconstrucción mamaria, percepción anterior de su imagen corporal y situación laboral) respecto a las variables imagen corporal, estrategias de afrontamiento y edad. Los instrumentos de evaluación utilizados fueron: «Body Image Scale» (SBIS) y «Breaf Cope Inventory» (BCI), un cuestionario de variables sociodemográficas y preguntas de creación propia sobre aspectos no recogidos por los cuestionarios (reconstrucción mamaria y percepción anterior de su imagen corporal). Los resultados confirmaron que las mujeres con una menor edad presentaban una mayor distorsión de su imagen corporal, pero no se obtuvieron diferencias estadísticamente significativas respecto a los estilos de afrontamiento, tanto activos como pasivos, ni con la imagen corporal. Encontramos que las mujeres de adultez intermedia, presentan una menor problemática sobre su imagen (autoconcepto e identidad definida) y con una mayor tendencia a estilos de afrontamiento más activos (humor y aceptación) frente a las mujeres en etapa de adultez temprana (afrontamiento activo y planeamiento). Respecto a las variables añadidas al estudio, encontramos diferencias estadísticamente significativas en relación con la imagen corporal y percepción antes de la cirugía y sus tratamientos en ambos grupos de edad, así como la relación entre afrontamiento activos y situación laboral. The aim of this study is to evaluate in two groups of women with mastectomies (N=30) (Stage of early adulthood (25-45 years) and middle adulthood (45-65 years)), the possible differences associated with their age and their perception of their body image as well as the active and passive coping styles at each age, to face the: Physical Impact of Breast Cancer Treatments. The results confirmed that younger women had a greater distortion of their image, but no statistically significant difference was obtained regarding coping styles, both active and passive, and their possible relationship to the image. We found that women in their middle adulthood have fewer problems about their image (defined self-concept and identity) and a greater tendency to show more active coping styles (humor and acceptance) towards the situation, than women in early hood stage (active coping and planning).
