Tomás Muñoz y Romero y el derecho medieval en los reinos de Asturias y León

Abstract

Con motivo del bicentenario del nacimiento de don Tomás Muñoz y Romero, este trabajo pretende abordar tanto la vida de este ilustre académico como sus principales aportaciones a la historia social y político-constitucional de los reinos de Asturias y León durante los primeros siglos de la Edad Media. Especialmente, se examinará la estructura social de los reinos de Asturias y León en los siglos posteriores a la invasión de los árabes así como el origen y la trascendencia del régimen municipal. Asimismo, y para honrar su memoria, a lo largo de las siguientes páginas se pondrá de relieve la relevancia de sus investigaciones históricas, el fruto de sus largos años de trabajo y la honda repercusión de su legado

On the occasion of the bicentenary of Don Tomás Muñoz y Romero’s birth, this paper aims to address both the life of this illustrious academician as well as his main contributions to the social and constitutional political history of the kingdoms of Asturias and León during the first centuries of the Middle Ages. In particular, we will review the social structure of the kingdoms of Asturias and Leon in the following centuries of the invasion by the Moors and the origin and great importance of the municipal regime. In addition, to honor his memory, along the following pages, we will highlight the relevance of his historical research, the fruit of his long years of work and the huge impact of his legacy.
