Abstract
Los cuarenta días es la narración de los éxtasis de Santa María Magdalena de Pazzi a partir del día en que, gravemente enferma, realizó su profesión religiosa en el monasterio carmelita de Santa María de los Ángeles de Florencia. La riqueza simbólica de este relato la convierte en heredera de la mística femenina medieval, dentro de la sensibilidad del barroco. En esta obra encontramos, in nuce, los temas y las grandes líneas que definirán su espiritualidad. The forty days is the story of the ecstasies of St. Mary Magdalene de' Pazzi from the day when, seriously ill, she did her religious profession in the Carmelite monastery of St. Mary of the Angels in Florence. The symbolic richness of this story makes her an heiress of medieval feminine mysticism, within the sensibility of the Baroque. In this work we find, in nuce, the themes and the great lines that will define his spirituality.
