dc.description.abstract | This project, FEM Analysis of the resistance and stability of knee prostheses, arises from the need of finding the causes of wear suffered by bone cement in knee prosthesis. Knee arthroplasty is one of the most successful and satisfactory surgeries for both patients and surgeons, because this surgery improves the quality of life of patients suffering from degenerative illness in the knee joint. In Spain, this type of surgery has increased significantly, from 12,500 prostheses in 1995 to 25,000 in 2000. In addition, the development in recent years has increased the survival rate of theses prostheses: 95% of them survive more than 10 years. However, the wear of the bone cement is the main cause of replacement. | es_ES |
