Violencia étnica en Myanmar : análisis sobre los delitos ocurridos en el estado de Rakhine (2017 - abril de 2018)

Abstract

Este trabajo es un analisis sobre la violencia ocurrida en el Estado de Rakhine, en Myanmar centrandose en el pasado 2017 hasta abril de 2018. Con este estudio se pretende responder a la cuestión sobre si estos sucesos se enmarcan en el crimen de genocidio, para ello se tratará de encanjar los actos sucedidos con la teoria sobre el genocidio de Lemkin y se compararán con otros genocidios ocurridos en la historia. A mayor abudamiento, se analizarán otros aspectos a tener en cuenta como la pasividad que ha reflejado de la lider del país frente esta violencia, la influencia de los grupos budistas ultranacionalistas en el discurso del odio, la respuesta de la comunidad Rohingya frente a las multiples violaciones de derechos humanos y la discriminacion que sufren mediante el grupo ARSA, y las acciones tomadas por grandes potencias como el ASEAN, Estados Unidos y China.

This paper is an analysis of the violence that has occurred in the state of Rahkine in Myanmar, specifically during the period between 2017 and April 2018. This study will look at the issue of whether or not these events can be classified as acts of genocide by focussing on Lemkin’s theory of the subject and comparing the acts with genocides that have occurred throughout history. Furthermore, this paper will analyse other aspects of the events, taking into account factors such as the indifference of the country’s leader in response to this violence, the response of the ARSA group to the discrimination and multiple human rights violations suffered by the Rohingya community, and the actions of large international bodies such as ASEAN, the United States and China.
