Abstract
Despite the efficacy that cognitive-behavioral approaches have already shown in the field of Eating Disorders (ED), between 30% and 40% of patients do not recover, reaching chronicity rates of 20%. In this review, we have reviewed the scientific literature on the application of Third Generation Therapies, specifically Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), on the ED. The main objective is to study, according to the different authors, the possible differences in the efficacy of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies in comparison with the approaches corresponding to the Third Generation Therapies in Anorexia Nervosa (AN) and Bulimia Nerviosa (BN). Enhanced Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy has proven to be an effective therapy for the treatment of both AN and BN. On the other hand, both ACT and DBT, have shown their effectiveness on this pathology, however, it is necessary to continue with research to improve their results.
