Espiritualidad y devoción eucarística en la época del Caballero de Gracia

Abstract

Jacobo Gratii, conocido como Caballero de Gracia (1517-1619), difundió la devoción eucarística con la fundación de la Congregación de indignos esclavos del Santísimo Sacramento. Este capítulo estudia la espiritualidad y la devoción eucarísticas de fines del siglo XVI y comienzos del XVII: el ambiente postridentino, las herencias medievales, la aportación de los maestros espirituales y de los autores de Reglas de vida cristiana o meditaciones para la misa y alabanzas para la adoración eucarística.

Jacobo Gratii, known as Caballero de Gracia (1517-1619), spread the Eucharistic devotion with the founding of the Congregation of unworthy slaves of the Blessed Sacrament. This chapter studies Eucharistic spirituality and devotion at the end of the 16th century and the beginning of the 17th century: the post-Tridentine environment, the medieval legacies, the contribution of the spiritual masters and the authors of the Rules of Christian Life or meditations for the Mass and praises for Eucharistic adoration.
