The unexpected defeat of Hillary Clinton by Donald Tump in the presidential elections of 2016 in the United States has been subject to numerous studies in recent years. One of the key aspects of the election results was the feeling of rejection that someone with an outstanding education and experience caused amongst the US electorate, considering that, at least in theory, this should have conferred a competitive advantage over her opponent. Three years after that defeat of Hillary Clinton, the rumors of a potential presidential candidacy of Michelle Obama, the former First Lady, for the elections of 2020 have started to gain strength in political and journalistic circles but, what are the features of Michelle that the electorate was not able to perceive from Hillary? Starting with the analysis of the characteristics that are common to political leaders, the objective of this research study is to identify those that are most valued when the person who exercises leadership is a woman, to ultimately compare the roles assumed by the two most renowned women of the Democratic Party of the United States of America nowadays.en-GB
