dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this TFG is to demonstrate by means of a CFD, in this case Fluent, the influence that a thermal variation has on the aerodynamic coefficient of a vehicle. Only the drag coefficient will be studied and not the rest of the aerodynamic coefficients. Subsequently, a vehicle will be simulated at different temperatures and its drag coefficients will be compared to determine which type of incidence causes a thermal increase. For this TFG it has been determined that a thermal increase negatively affects the drag coefficient, increasing it. Finally, a method has been proposed to cool the bodywork and its viability has been analysed. The method consisted of using the vehicle's own air conditioning to lower the surface temperature and therefore the drag coefficient. By means of a power balance it has been demonstrated that it is not profitable to use the air conditioning since the improvement of power with the decrease in the drag coefficient is less than the additional expense for using the air conditioning. | en-GB |
