The basic objective of this research is to analyze the relationships between the variables pertaining to adult coping styles, adult attachment, and their possible relation with the fact that divorced parents maintained contact with their children or not. The main hypotheses predicted that the subjects who maintained contact with their children would have a secure attachment, while the subjects who did not maintain it, would have another type of attachment, not secure: fearful hostile, remote or worried. In addition, parents who keep in touch with their children would show different coping styles to those from parents who do not. The measuring instruments used were the Stress Coping Questionnaire (SCQ) and the Adult Attachment Questionnaire. The sample consisted of 75 subjects, 43 women and 32 men. For the statistics analysis, Student's ttests, non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test and Chi-square test were performed. The results showed that both the subjects who maintained contact with their children and those who did not, have a remote attachment. It was also found that there is a significative difference between parents who maintain contact with their children and those who do not in relation to two dimensions of coping, positive reevaluation and search for social support, but both belong to the same type of coping, rational coping, so the two hypotheses raised are not met.es_ES
