Abstract
The present work will try to explain the challenges faced by the adopted person in order to integrate two different families, past and present, until an integral and positive identity is built. In order to reach this port, a brief overview will be made of the current situation of national adoption, and more specifically international adoption in Spanish territory, and how the phenomenon has evolved since its peak. Drawing on John Bowlby's famous Attachment Theory, I will try to shed light on the difficulties of early adoption in establishing family ties because of the imprint that abandonment and loss leave on the adopted child. It will be necessary to understand the repercussions of adverse experiences, as well as the factors that surround the child in order to predict the difficulties that can be encountered in the search to give meaning to his life and to know who he is, being necessary for this to have data on his origins. I will finish by giving some brushstrokes of the most frequent problems that we may encounter from psychological practice, as well as the needs that post-adoptive services are arousing.
