Las Moradas de santa Teresa : Teología del seguimiento de Cristo

Abstract

El seguimiento de Cristo tiene un lugar preponderante en la teología, a tal punto que la espiritualidad cristiana se define en términos de «seguimiento». La tesis presenta una lectura crítica de Las Moradas de santa Teresa descubriendo y reinterpretando los elementos característicos del «seguimiento de Cristo» para la espiritualidad hoy. Al revisar la extensa bibliografía que existe sobre los estudios teresianos, no se encuentra un estudio que afronte de manera específica el tema del seguimiento de Cristo. De ahí la importancia y el aporte que la investigación tiene en el avance de los mismos.

A partir de los rasgos característicos del seguimiento neotestamentario, se analizan los campos semánticos que lo definen en la obra teresiana. El análisis de los rasgos característicos nos ayudan a la comprensión del seguimiento de Cristo en Las Moradas. La categoría «seguimiento», inherente a la teología actual, no aparece como tal en los escritos teresianos, pero sí aparecen las categorías propias que describen el proceso tales como: «imitar», «seguir», «llamar-llamada», «caminar-camino», «mirar», «servir» entre otras. Con la recomendación teresiana: «Poned los ojos en el Crucificado y haráseos todo poco» (7M 4,8), que recorre desde el comienzo hasta el final del libro de Las Moradas, como un eje transversal de su escrito, se aborda el seguimiento de Cristo con las categorías particulares de la autora abulense.

La investigación se desarrolla en cinco capítulos que abarcan la totalidad de los objetivos propuestos, además de una introducción que contiene el estado de la cuestión y un epílogo que incluye las conclusiones. Teresa traza el camino a sus lectores de hoy: el seguimiento de Cristo. No hay otro camino para llegar a la unión divina sino por medio de Jesucristo; por eso su insistencia en mantener la mirada fija en Él (cf. Hb 12,2). Mirar a Cristo es seguirlo. Así, la vida del seguidor de Cristo es un proceso progresivo de seguimiento en el que paulatinamente la presencia de Cristo va transformando la vida de su seguidor, de tal manera que, como en Teresa, Cristo entra en su vida como Salvador.

The following of Christ has a prominent place in theology, to such an extent that Christian spirituality is defined in terms of «following». The thesis presents a critical reading of The Mansions of saint Teresa to discover and reinterpret the characteristic elements of the "following of Christ" for spirituality today. Reviewing the extensive literature that exists about the Theresian studies, there is not a study that specifically addresses the issue of following Christ. Hence the importance and contribution which this research has in the advancing of them.

From the characteristic traits of the New Testament followers, the semantic fields that define it in the Teresian work are analyzed. The analysis of the characteristic features help us to the understanding of the following of Christ in The Mansions. The category «followership», inherent to current theology, does not appear as such in the Teresian writings, but there are categories that describe the process such as: «imitating», «following», «to call-call», «to walk-path», «to look», «to serve» among others. With the Teresian recommendation: «Fix your eyes on the Crucified and everything will become small for you» (7M 4,8), which runs from the beginning until the end of the book of The Mansions, as a transversal axis of her writing, the following of Christ is approached with the particular categories of the author Abulense.

The research is carried out in five chapters covering the whole of the proposed objectives, in addition to an introduction containing the condition of the issue and an epilogue which includes the conclusions. Teresa draws the path to today's readers: the following of Christ. There is no other way to get the divine union but through Jesus Christ; that her insistence on maintaining the gaze fixed in Him (cf. Hb 12.2). Looking at Christ is to follow Him. Thus, the life of the follower of Christ is a progressive process of following in which gradually the presence of Christ transforms the life of his follower, in such a way that, as in Teresa, Christ enters into her life as Saviour.
