The experience of meaning, understood as a desire that transcends the other needs of the person,
is an important pillar to find the best version of one’s self (Frankl, 2013). To arrive at this
experience, a construction of the self is required, which can lead to a vocational and work
trajectory. When this trajectory is affected by needs imposed by society, it makes us forget the
most important need that is to give meaning to our lives. The purpose of this investigation is to
go further and seek to relate this more transcendent and intangible factor, i.e. the experience of
meaning, with job satisfaction and perfectionism. For this research three questionnaires were
used. The PIL test created by Crumbaugh and Maholick, 1969 (as cited in Noblejas, 1999), the
Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (MPS) by Frost et al. (1990) (as cited in Carrasco,
Belloch and Perpiñá, 2010) and the S20 / 23 job satisfaction questionnaire (Meliá and Peiró, 1989). The final sample of this investigation was composed of 112 subjects whose main
requirements were to be of legal age and to have a job. 52,7% were men (59 subjects), while
47,3% were women (53 subjects). The results show a significant correlation between the
dimensions of experience of meaning and intrinsic satisfaction (r (110) =, 661, p≤, 01) and
between experience of meaning and fear of errors (r (110) = -, 301, p ≤, 01). The greater the
experience of meaning the greater the intrinsic satisfaction, and the greater the experience of
meaning the lower the fear of errors. These results are promising for logotherapy in the
scientific field, although there is still some way to go.
