El sentimiento de inseguridad como incertidumbre

Abstract

En este capítulo inicial del libro Aspectos sociales en la seguridad ciudadana se mantiene que ese sentimiento es equivalente al concepto de incertidumbre y por tanto implica mirar el futuro con preocupación o con miedos. Partiendo de esta premisa conceptual se puede afirmar que el sentimiento de inseguridad, en gran medida, aumenta a medida que aumenta la incertidumbre. Esta incertidumbre puede venir explicada por un conjunto de factores sociales de riesgo asociados a circunstancias económicas, sociales, políticas, sanitarias colectivas y, también, al conjunto de incertidumbres vitales derivadas de preocupaciones individuales por la salud, el trabajo o la familia que se pueden agrupar bajo el concepto de calidad de vida. Para desarrollar estas ideas, se va a analizar una parte de los resultados del proyecto financiado por el Plan Nacional de I+D, “Estudio multifactorial georeferenciado de la inseguridad en España y su correspondencia con la inseguridad subjetiva”, referencia: CSO2016-77549-P (AEI/FEDER, UE). En esta investigación se planteó emplear el actual desarrollo estadístico y georeferencial para avanzar en el conocimiento del sentimiento de inseguridad de los ciudadanos por ser un fenómeno aún no suficientemente explicado en los estudios sobre seguridad.

In this initial chapter of the book Social Aspects in Citizen Security, it is maintained that this feeling is equivalent to the concept of uncertainty and therefore implies looking at the future with concern or fear. Starting from this conceptual premise, it can be affirmed that the feeling of insecurity, to a great extent, increases as uncertainty increases. This uncertainty can be explained by a set of social risk factors associated with economic, social, political, collective health circumstances and, also, the set of vital uncertainties derived from individual concerns about health, work or family that can be grouped under the concept of quality of life. To develop these ideas, a part of the results of the project financed by the National R&D Plan will be analyzed, "Georeferenced multifactorial study of insecurity in Spain and its correspondence with subjective insecurity", reference: CSO2016-77549- P (AEI / FEDER, EU). In this research, it was proposed to use the current statistical and georeferential development to advance in the knowledge of the feeling of insecurity of citizens because it is a phenomenon not yet sufficiently explained in security studies.
