La música como herramienta de Soft Power en Relaciones Internacionales Diplomacia cultural y diplomacia musical entre la comunidad hispanohablante y angloparlante

Abstract

Dentro del orden mundial actual, los países han dejado atrás las viejas formas y han encontrado nuevas maneras de ejercer influencias e imponerse dentro del panorama internacional. Han elegido una influencia más discreta y han acudido por lo tanto al llamado poder blando o soft power. Dentro de este poder blando podemos ver fuertes sinergias a través de la diplomacia cultural y, más concretamente, de la diplomacia musical. Establecemos durante el trabajo por lo tanto un potente enlace entre la música y las Relaciones Internacionales y estudiamos su impacto en el caso de la comunidad hispanohablante. Vemos cómo esta diplomacia musical, dentro de la comunidad hispanohablante, ha resultado en ocasiones una herramienta de unión y, en otras, una herramienta divisoria y de conflicto. Por otro lado, estudiamos también la relación de la comunidad hispanohablante y la comunidad angloparlante y sus conversaciones a través de la propia diplomacia musical. Para ello hacemos un repaso de antiguas figuras dentro de la música hispana que previamente han causado un impacto en la comunidad anglosajona. Pero fundamentalmente, nos centramos en la nueva oleada de música urbana y latina que domina los mercados anglosajones y que acapara hitos y récords. Finalmente analizamos la repercusión de este fenómeno a nivel cultural para ambas comunidades y sus sinergias y nuevas relaciones desencadenantes de ella.

In today's world order, countries have left behind the old ways and have found new ways to exert influence and impose themselves on the international scene. They have chosen a more discreet form of influence and have therefore resorted to the so-called soft power. Within this soft power we are able to appreciate strong synergies through cultural diplomacy and, more specifically, through musical diplomacy. We therefore establish a powerful link between music and International Relations, and we study its impact in the case of the Spanish-speaking community. We see how this musical diplomacy, within the Spanish-speaking community, has sometimes been a tool of union and, at other times, a tool of division and conflict. On the other hand, we also explore the relationship between the Spanish-speaking community and the English-speaking community and its changes through musical diplomacy. In order to understand newer events, we review former figures in Hispanic music who have previously had an impact on the English-speaking community. But fundamentally, we focus on the new wave of urban and Latin music that is dominating the Anglo-Saxon markets and that is hoarding milestones and records. Through this work, we analyze the repercussions of this phenomenon at a cultural level for both communities and the synergies and new relationships that trigger them.
