La mano invisible y la idea de justicia en Adam Smith

Abstract

Ante el odio y polarización de una minoría de la sociedad cada vez más ruidosa es necesario volver a establecer una democracia sólida en valores y cuya dirección tenga como destino final la prosperidad. Para ello, se debe recordar a uno de los filósofos con mayor trascendencia de toda la historia, Adam Smith. Mediante su figura y defensa de la libertad individual se podrán concebir aquellas ideas que funcionan como base en una democracia liberal.

Durante este Trabajo de Fin de Grado se aborda el liberalismo desde la visión propuesta por Adam Smith, considerado una de las figuras más destacadas de este movimiento. Además, se profundizará en que es la justicia para éste; relacionando el papel del gobierno con la mano invisible, metáfora que introduce en sus dos obras: “Teoría de los Sentimientos Morales” y “La Riqueza de las Naciones”.

In the face of the hatred and polarization of an increasingly vocal minority of society, it is necessary to re-establish a solid democracy in values and whose final destination is prosperity. Therefore, we have to remember one of the most important philosophers in history, Adam Smith. Through his figure and defense of individual freedom we will be able to conceive those ideas as the bedrock of a liberal democracy.

During this thesis, liberalism will be approached from the vision proposed by Adam Smith, considered one of the most prominent protagonists of this movement. In addition, we will deepen in what justice consists for him relating the role of government with the invisible hand, a metaphor that introduces in his books: “Theory of Moral Sentiments” and “The Wealth of Nations”.
