Abstract
The project consists of the modeling of occasionally costly mechanical assets (motors, chillers, etc.) present in different processes (power generation, cooling generation/distribution, etc.) in CHP (Combines Heat-Power) plants. For the modeling, neural networks trained by historical data from a CHP plant were used by recording telemetry values stored in a Historian database. After going through a validation and testing process, these models were used in the creation of a simulator including some of the processes involved in the plant generation. This will serve as a test of the possibility of implementing novel simulation technologies typical of Industry 4.0, such as Digital Twins, in the operation of a cogeneration plant, in case of having a larger amount of data and higher resources, as an extension of this project. The digitization of the plant could be used with diagnostic and prognostic functions, in order to help improve asset management, increase plant efficiency and reduce costs.
In order to do this, the project works with data from the cogeneration plant supplied by the H10 hotel complex in Jamaica. This was built and is operated by SAMPOL INGENIERÍA Y OBRAS S.A., who provided the data.
