La mística encapsulada de Juan de la Cruz (Del fragmento a la totalidad)

Abstract

Partiendo de una idea de Federico Ruiz, según la cual san Juan de la Cruz está completo en cada una de sus obras, se trata de ver el sistema sanjuanista desde una selección clave de textos de las así llamadas obras menores (incluidas poesía y cartas), interpretados en su inmanencia y en intertextualidad con el resto de las así llamadas obras mayores. Ofrecemos una visión en la que las partes (el fragmento) busca iluminar a la totalidad. Y viceversa. La progresión de nuestro discurso será de carácter metafórico: comenzando por la bodega y culminando en el nido, avanzaremos por el vínculo, el vuelo, la noche y el fuego. Cada metáfora remite a una categoría clave de la mística sanjuanista.

While using as a point of departure an idea proposed by Federico Ruiz, according to which all of St. John of the Cross is contained in each of his works, this study analyzes the «San Juan system» using a selection of key texts among the so-called minor works (including poetry and letters), interpreted in their immanence and intertextuality with the rest of the «major» works. This study offers a vision in which the parts (or fragments) seek to illuminate the whole, and vice versa. The progression of our discourse will be metaphorical in nature; starting with the wine cellar and culminating in the nest, we will advance through linkage, flight, night and fire. Each metaphor refers to a key category of St. John’s mysticism.
