Cuando el cine da que pensar la realidad última

Abstract

Cumpliendo con su intencionalidad divulgativa y pastoral y sin miedo a aventurarse en territorios fronterizos, la Cátedra de Teología Contemporánea "José Antonio Romeo" del Colegio Mayor Universitario Chaminade de Madrid ha apostado por establecer un diálogo fructífero entre el cine y la teología, el arte y la religión. La teología cristiana no puede ser ajena al arte, porque el cristianismo ha mantenido con él una relación estrechísima a lo largo de los siglos; y el cine, arte por excelencia de los tiempos actuales, es, al decir de Pedro Rodríguez Panizo, un verdadero laboratorio de la condición humana y las cuestiones últimas, otorgando una especial densidad simbólica al carácter esencialmente dramático de dicha condición y en el que puede iniciarse y consumarse una profunda inteligencia de la fe. A través de las ficciones audiovisuales encontramos iluminación y concreción a dilemas vitales y éticos que nos acompañan en nuestro caminar: la utopía y los problemas sociales, las ausencias y presencias de Dios, los fundamentalismos, la memoria de las víctimas, las nuevas idolatrías, la esperanza cada vez más necesaria, la bondad y la maldad? Ahora el lector tiene en sus manos el libro al que han dado lugar los textos de las diferentes intervenciones del curso sobre Cine y teología en diálogo: en todos ellos ?estimulantes, informados, reflexivos, propositivos- se encuentra tanto el rigor académico del experto como la intuición fecunda del creyente comprometido

.Fulfilling its informative and pastoral intention and without fear of venturing into borderlands, the "José Antonio Romeo" Chair of Contemporary Theology at the Chaminade University College of Madrid has opted to establish a fruitful dialogue between cinema and theology, art and the religion. Christian theology cannot be alien to art, because Christianity has maintained a very close relationship with it throughout the centuries; and the cinema, art par excellence of current times, is, in the words of Pedro Rodríguez Panizo, a true laboratory of the human condition and ultimate questions, giving a special symbolic density to the essentially dramatic character of said condition and in which it can initiate and consummate a profound understanding of faith. Through audiovisual fictions we find illumination and concreteness to vital and ethical dilemmas that accompany us on our journey: utopia and social problems, the absences and presences of God, fundamentalisms, the memory of the victims, the new idolatries, the ever more necessary hope, goodness and badness? Now the reader has in his hands the book to which the texts of the different interventions of the course on Cinema and Theology in Dialogue have given rise: in all of them -stimulating, informed, reflective, purposeful- one finds both the academic rigor of the expert and the fruitful intuition of the committed believer.
