Abstract
In this project, the environmental impacts of obtaining biomethane from the organic fraction of municipal solid waste collected separately (FORS) at the Las Dehesas center of the Valdemingómez technology park were evaluated by means of a life cycle analysis (LCA). The FORS were subjected to anaerobic digestion (AD) to obtain biogas and digestate. Subsequently, the biogas has been subjected to a water washing purification treatment to obtain biomethane with characteristics similar to natural gas and which can be used as biofuel in compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles. The reduction of greenhouse gases (GHG) in the use of biomethane in mobility is evaluated by means of two case studies. The first one focused on the LCA of obtaining 1GJ of biomethane, where an economic allocation of fertilizer and biogas has been performed. In the second study, two comparisons of the complete LCA of a biomethane vehicle versus a natural gas and a diesel vehicle.
