El cuidado espiritual en la Compañía de Jesús a través de la correspondencia (1556-1560)

Abstract

Durante los años 1556 al 1560 el P. Diego Laínez y su secretario, el P. Polanco, se preocupan por mantener una correspondencia constante con los jesuitas que están en las diversas misiones de la Compañía de Jesús. En esas cartas, publicadas en cinco volúmenes de Lainii Monumenta, se pueden observar datos que muestran el interés que hay desde el gobierno de la Compañía por la salud espiritual de sus miembros. Este estudio extrae esos datos de las cartas y trata de mostrar cómo se cuidaba espiritualmente, según las condiciones y situación de cada persona, tomando el legado espiritual que había dejado Ignacio de Loyola.

During the years 1556 to 1560, Father Diego Laínez and his secretary, Father Polanco, were concerned with maintaining constant correspondence with the Jesuits who were in the various missions of the Society of Jesus. In these letters, published in five volumes of Lainii Monumenta, data can be observed that show the interest that the Company's government has in the spiritual health of its members. This study extracts this data from the letters and tries to show how he took care of himself spiritually, according to the conditions and situation of each person, taking the spiritual legacy left by Ignatius of Loyola.
