Apoyo psicoterapéutico al final de la vida

Abstract

En el ámbito de la Esclerosis Lateral Amiotrófica (ELA), el papel del soporte psicoterapéutico es esencial, pero a menudo subestimado. Este artículo ofrece una revisión bibliográfica exhaustiva centrada en la necesidad y relevancia del acompañamiento psicológico en pacientes con ELA. Se inicia con una descripción detallada de la epidemiología y sintomatología de la enfermedad, seguida de un análisis profundo de las repercusiones psicológicas tanto individuales como en el entorno familiar y social del paciente. Posteriormente, la investigación se adentra en diferentes enfoques terapéuticos, incluyendo la terapia humanista, cognitivo-conductual y sistémica, esta última siendo examinada en detalle. Se destaca la importancia de considerar al paciente dentro de su contexto familiar y social para una intervención terapéutica efectiva. Esta investigación aspira a subrayar la necesidad de un enfoque multidisciplinario que aborde los aspectos médicos y psicológicos de la ELA para mejorar la calidad de vida de los pacientes y sus familias.

In the field of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), the role of psychotherapeutic support is essential but often underestimated. This article provides a comprehensive literature review focused on the necessity and relevance of psychological support for ALS patients. It begins with a detailed description of the epidemiology and symptomatology of the disease, followed by an in-depth analysis of the psychological repercussions both individually and within the patient's family and social environment. Subsequently, the research delves into different therapeutic approaches, including humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, and systemic therapy, with the latter being examined in detail. Emphasis is placed on the importance of considering the patient within their family and social context for effective therapeutic intervention. This study aims to underscore the need for a multidisciplinary approach addressing both the medical and psychological aspects of ALS to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
