The Comparison of Media Coverage between Men´s and Woman´s Soccer in Spain
Resumen
The coverage of women's and men's football in the Spanish media is compared in this
bachelor's thesis, "The Comparison of Media Coverage between Men´s and Woman´s
Soccer in Spain," using both qualitative content analysis and quantitative data analysis.
The study gathered information from both written and visual media sources in Spanish.
The investigation showed that men's and women's football received significantly
different amounts and types of attention in the Spanish media. This imbalance is caused
by a number of things, according to the thesis, including historical and cultural issues,
gender gaps in society, and a lack of funding and support for women's football.
This study makes a contribution by identifying these elements and encouraging fair and
equitable coverage of both sports. The study offers insights into the current level of
coverage of women's and men's football in the Spanish media and offers suggestions
for improvement, which may be of interest to media professionals, sports
organizations, and policymakers. The results of this study provide a first step toward
establishing more gender equality in sports and bridging the gap between men's and
women's football in Spain in terms of media coverage.
