El «caso Galileo»: del mito a la realidad

Abstract

Este trabajo busca reexaminar y valorar el "caso Galileo", argumentando que no debería ser considerado el prototipo de la relación entre teología y ciencia, la cual muchas veces se presenta como un antagonismo inevitable. Aunque el caso tiene una base histórica, su interpretación a menudo pasa por alto varios puntos importantes. Se sostiene que este mito se fundamenta en razones que no deberían conducir a una contradicción entre ciencia y teología, sino que debería promover un diálogo y una armonización entre ambas, reconociendo sus diferencias y delimitando sus objetos, metodologías y finalidades. Esta perspectiva busca evitar malentendidos y confusiones que podrían generar posturas antirreligiosas o anticientíficas.

This work aims to reassess and evaluate the 'Galileo case,' arguing that it should not be considered the prototype of the relationship between theology and science, which is often depicted as an inevitable antagonism. Although the case has a historical basis, its interpretation often overlooks several important points. It is argued that this myth is based on reasons that should not lead to a contradiction between science and theology, but should instead promote dialogue and harmonization between them, acknowledging their differences and delineating their objects, methodologies, and purposes. This perspective seeks to avoid misunderstandings and confusion that could generate anti-religious or anti-scientific positions.
