Abstract

La vocación de la Iglesia es ser Madre. Lo repetía el papa Francisco a los jóvenes que le escuchaban el 3 de agosto en el parque Eduardo VII de Lisboa, en la celebración de acogida de la JMJ 2023: «En la Iglesia, hay espacio para todos. Para todos. En la Iglesia, ninguno sobra. Ninguno está de más. […] ¡Hay lugar para todos! Todos juntos, cada uno en su lengua repita conmigo: Todos, todos, todos. No se oye, ¡otra vez! Todos. Todos. Todos. Y esa es la Iglesia, la Madre de todos. Hay lugar para todos. El Señor no señala con el dedo, sino que abre sus brazos». Ojalá estas páginas puedan ayudar a tantos jóvenes que viven su orientación sexual con dificultad, a sentir ese abrazo maternal de la Iglesia.

Este libro está dirigido en primer lugar, a jóvenes que están en búsqueda y llenos de dudas sobre su orientación sexual, a jóvenes homosexuales que encuentran dificultades para aceptarse y acogerse tal y como son, sobre todo a aquellos que intentan congeniar su orientación y su fe. En segundo lugar, escribimos este libro para educadores y agentes de pastoral que están inmersos o quieren comenzar un camino de acompañamiento de jóvenes homosexuales y quieren tener una palabra que decir, a nuestro entender, equilibrada y fundamentada.

The Church's vocation is to be a Mother. Pope Francis repeated it to the young people listening to him on August 3 in Eduardo VII Park in Lisbon, during the welcoming celebration of WYD 2023: "In the Church, there is room for everyone. For everyone. In the Church, no one is surplus. No one is redundant. [...] There is room for everyone! All together, each in their own language, repeat with me: Everyone, everyone, everyone. It's not heard, again! Everyone. Everyone. Everyone. And that is the Church, the Mother of all. There is room for everyone. The Lord does not point with his finger, but opens his arms." Hopefully these pages can help so many young people who live their sexual orientation with difficulty to feel that maternal embrace of the Church.

This book is primarily aimed at young people who are searching and full of doubts about their sexual orientation, at homosexual young people who find it difficult to accept and embrace themselves as they are, especially those who try to reconcile their orientation and their faith. Secondly, we write this book for educators and pastoral agents who are immersed or want to begin a path of accompanying homosexual young people and want to have a word to say, in our opinion, balanced and grounded.
