Abstract

Las cancelaciones y los cordones sanitarios pueden levantar una barrera temporal contra la derecha radical, pero no abordan las causas de su crecimiento, ni ofrecen alternativas a las legítimas preocupaciones de quienes apuestan por estos partidos. Hay dos realidades inapelables (e incómodas) que vertebran la furibunda reacción contra el statu quo: el anhelo de una sociedad más segura con una política migratoria bien definida y la revuelta contra el oficialismo dogmático que censura al que discrepa.

Cancellations and cordons sanitaires may erect a temporary barrier against the radical right, but they do not address the causes of its growth, nor do they offer alternatives to the legitimate concerns of those who support these parties. Two inescapable (and uncomfortable) realities underpin the furious reaction against the status quo: the yearning for a safer society with a well-defined migration policy and the revolt against dogmatic officialdom that censures those who disagree.
