La protección y el bienestar animal frente a la industria de la moda

Abstract

El presente trabajo aborda la necesidad de cambio y los agentes responsables de las primeras reformas del uso de materiales de origen animal en la industria de la moda desde la perspectiva del derecho y la ética. Se analiza cómo el empleo de pieles, cuero y otros productos derivados de animales plantea serios desafíos tanto desde el punto de vista jurídico, en relación al bienestar animal como medioambiental. En el marco de este análisis, se examinan las normativas internacionales, europeas y nacionales que regulan la protección de los animales y los materiales derivados, y se proponen alternativas más sostenibles, basadas en técnicas y materiales “cruelty-free”.

This work addresses the need for change and the agents responsible for initiating the first reforms in the use of animal-derived materials in the fashion industry from a legal and ethical perspective. It analyses how the use of fur, leather, and other animal-based products poses significant challenges both from a legal standpoint, concerning animal welfare, and from an environmental perspective. Within this framework, international, European, and national regulations governing the protection of animals and derived materials are examined, and more sustainable alternatives, based on cruelty-free techniques and materials, are proposed.
